This Ballistic Advantage Premium Series barrel gives your Ruger 10/22 Charger a serious accuracy upgrade in a 12 inch, spiral fluted, threaded package. Machined from stress relieved 416R stainless steel, it delivers the shot to shot consistency and corrosion resistance that made 416R the default choice for match rimfire barrels. It is the single component that changes what a Charger is capable of.
What this Ballistic Advantage barrel is and who it is for
The 10/22 Charger is a pistol built on the most popular rimfire action in the country, and the factory barrel is the part holding it back. Swapping it is the highest return upgrade available on the platform, ahead of triggers, stocks and optics.
This one is aimed at the shooter building a precision Charger for small game, steel or suppressed range work. If you have a Charger and a can, or a Charger and a red dot and a taste for tight groups, this is where the build starts.
Features that produce the accuracy
Ballistic Advantage put the Premium Series feature set to work here, and every item on the list has a job.
- Stress relieved 416R stainless steel for consistency and corrosion resistance
- Match grade Bentz chamber optimized for semi automatic rimfire accuracy
- Custom chamber mouth bevel that smooths feeding
- Redesigned extractor cut that improves ejection reliability
- Precisely held barrel tenon fit for consistent bore alignment
- Spiral fluting that cuts weight, adds rigidity and improves heat dissipation
Specifications explained
The barrel measures 12 inches with a 1:16 twist, which is the standard rate for stabilizing conventional .22 LR loads across the velocity range from subsonic match ammunition to high velocity hunting rounds. That twist paired with a Bentz chamber is the classic recipe for a semi automatic rimfire that shoots like a bolt gun.
The Bentz chamber deserves the attention it gets. It is tighter than a standard sporting chamber but still cut with enough clearance to feed reliably in a semi auto, which is the compromise the 10/22 platform has always needed and rarely received from the factory.
Stress relieving is the step that separates a good stainless barrel from an ordinary one. Machining puts stress into steel, and a barrel that has not had it removed will walk its point of impact as it heats, which is exactly what ruins a string on a warm afternoon.
The custom chamber mouth bevel and the redesigned extractor cut are small details with outsized effects on a semi automatic rimfire. Rimfire ammunition is dirty and inconsistent by nature, and feeding and ejection are where a tight chamber usually costs you reliability.
Spiral fluting trims weight while increasing rigidity and adding surface area for better heat dissipation, and it looks fantastic doing all of it. On a pistol that is held out at arm’s length or off a bag, every ounce removed from the front end is felt immediately.
Practical use, care and compatibility
The threaded muzzle is ready for your favourite suppressor or muzzle device, which is exactly where a Charger comes alive. A suppressed rimfire pistol is one of the most enjoyable things you can own, and this Ballistic Advantage barrel arrives set up for it.
Fitment is the Ruger 10/22 Charger, and installation follows the familiar V block routine. Torque the block screws evenly, confirm the barrel is fully seated in the receiver and check headspace and function before shooting.
Rimfire barrels want a gentle cleaning routine, so avoid aggressive brushing and let solvent do the work. Stainless resists corrosion but is not immune, so wipe the exterior after wet or humid outings, and browse the rest of our replacement barrels if you have other builds waiting.
If you are building a precision Charger for small game or steel, this barrel is the place to start. Ships direct to your door, no FFL required.
