Choosing a Breek Arms AR10 WARHAMMER in Green

Colored controls are not purely cosmetic. On a rifle where you may be reaching for a control under stress, in low light, or while wearing gloves, a contrasting color gives your eye something to index on. Competition shooters have used colored controls for exactly this reason for years.

Beyond that, a green handle simply looks right on builds running olive drab, green Cerakote, or mixed earth tone furniture. Anodized color also holds up better than paint, since the color lives in the oxide layer of the aluminum rather than sitting on top of it waiting to chip.

Large Frame Manipulation

Charging an AR10 pattern rifle asks more of the shooter than an AR-15 does. The heavier recoil spring and larger carrier mean more force is needed, and that force gets applied through a latch that was originally scaled for a smaller rifle. Extended dual latches spread that load and let you use whichever hand is free.

The textured grooves matter more here than on a small frame rifle because of that extra force. A smooth latch under a gloved hand slips, and slipping while charging a heavy rifle is how knuckles meet optics. Texture turns a two attempt operation into one.

Wide set-back latch geometry solves the other large frame problem, which is optic clearance. Big magnified scopes with 34mm tubes and large ocular bells crowd the rear of the receiver, and a latch that sits back and wide gives you somewhere to actually put a thumb.

Gas, Fit, and Upkeep

The Mod2 relief cuts on the top and bottom of the stem direct excess gas out the sides rather than back along the charging handle channel toward your face. On a suppressed .308 that is not a minor comfort item, since large frame rifles under a can move a lot of gas rearward.

Fitment is drop in with no tools. Separate the upper from the lower, remove the old handle with the bolt carrier, insert the WARHAMMER, and reassemble. Confirm your rifle uses a standard large frame charging handle channel, since AR10 pattern rifles vary more than AR-15s do.

Keep an eye on carbon in the relief cuts if you shoot suppressed, wipe the handle down during normal cleaning, and inspect the latch springs occasionally.
