Hunters using a .22 Magnum on rabbits, squirrels and other small game headed for the kitchen. Most .22 WMR ammunition uses a fast, thin hollow point that makes a real mess of a small animal. GamePoint uses a jacketed soft point with a dimple in the nose. It opens in a slower, more controlled way, a bit like a scaled down deer bullet, so the animal goes down without half of it being ruined.

You still get the extra reach of the magnum case, which makes it a fair choice for a fox or a groundhog at distances where a .22 LR starts to struggle.

Keep it away from your .22 LR ammo

.22 WMR is longer and fatter than .22 LR and won’t go into a .22 LR chamber. The other way round is the real danger. A .22 LR cartridge will drop into a .22 Magnum chamber and can split when fired. Keep the two in separate boxes and separate pockets.
