How the Safari Solid is built
Cutting Edge machines the Safari Solid from copper on a lathe, so it is one piece of metal with no jacket to separate and no core to deform. The shank carries a four band configuration, which reduces the bearing surface in the bore and eases barrel strain compared with a full diameter shank of the same length. The nose is Cutting Edge’s 67 percent meplat BBW number 13 profile, the shape their testing found gave the deepest penetration of anything they tried. A flat, wide meplat like that also tends to track straighter through heavy tissue than a round nose does.
It is for the handloader who takes a .30 caliber rifle after heavy game and wants a bullet that holds its full weight, or who wants a solid that shoots close to the point of aim of a heavy soft point.
