A 570 grain solid at .510 inch, sold fifty to the box, which is enough to regulate a double and still have a full hunt’s supply. The .510 inch diameter suits the .510 Nitro Express bores, and 570 grains is a traditional heavy weight for them.
How the Safari Solid is built
Cutting Edge machines the Safari Solid from brass on a lathe, so it is one piece of metal with no jacket to separate and no core to deform. The shank carries a 3 plus 1 band configuration, which reduces the bearing surface in the bore and eases barrel strain compared with a full diameter shank of the same length. The nose is Cutting Edge’s 67 percent meplat BBW number 13 profile, the shape their testing found gave the deepest penetration of anything they tried. A flat, wide meplat like that also tends to track straighter through heavy tissue than a round nose does.
Load it in a .510 Nitro Express or any other rifle that takes a true .510 bullet, wherever you want a non expanding solid that keeps its shape from the first inch to the last.
