Who it’s for

Hunters who want maximum penetration and aren’t taking long shots. 220 grain is about as heavy as .30-06 gets in a factory load. It’s slow by modern standards and it doesn’t care, because what it does is push straight through heavy muscle and bone and keep going.

Round nose means it loses velocity faster than a pointed bullet, so this is a timber and thick cover load. Elk, moose, bear at moderate range, or big hogs where the shot might have to go through a shoulder.

Don’t buy it for open country

The round nose bleeds speed quickly and the trajectory gets steep past 200 yards. If you’re shooting across canyons or open fields, a 165 or 180 grain pointed bullet will serve you far better. This load has a specific job.
