Who it’s for
Suppressed 7.62×39 shooters. At 255 grain this is more than double the weight of standard 123 grain ammunition, which is how Hornady get the velocity down below the speed of sound while keeping useful momentum. With a suppressor the result is genuinely quiet.
The SUB-X bullet is designed to expand at subsonic speed, so unlike most heavy subsonic loads it does something useful on arrival rather than just punching a hole.

It probably will not cycle your rifle
This is the thing to understand before buying. Subsonic ammunition produces far less gas pressure, and a stock AK or SKS will usually need manual cycling with it. Some gas systems can be adjusted, most cannot. Bolt actions and single shots have no such problem.
Short range only. A 255 grain bullet at 1,050 fps loses height quickly.
