Who it’s for

.308 hunters who want expansion they can count on. SST means Super Shock Tip. The polymer tip does two jobs. It stops the nose deforming in the magazine and under recoil, and it drives back into the bullet on impact to start expansion straight away. Underneath there’s an InterLock ring holding the jacket to the core so the bullet stays in one piece while that happens.

165 grain is the middle weight in .308 and a sensible default. Heavy enough for elk at reasonable range, light enough to shoot flat on deer.

SST opens fast. That’s the point on deer, but at very close range on a light animal you can get more damage than you wanted. If most of your shooting is inside 100 yards on small whitetail, a plain soft point may suit you better.
