Can You Ship Ammo to Massachusetts?

What you need at your end
- An FID card for rifle and shotgun ammunition that is not large capacity or semiautomatic
- An LTC for all lawful types, or an FID plus a handgun purchase permit for handgun ammunition
- 18 or over for long gun ammunition, 21 or over for handgun, semiautomatic or large capacity
Why Massachusetts works this way
Massachusetts law requires a licence to buy or possess ammunition. It does not itself require delivery to a dealer. The reason we send it to one is that UPS and FedEx will not carry ammunition to a residential address in Massachusetts, whatever licence you hold.
Carrier limit, not state law This one is worth being clear about. It is the couriers declining the route, not Massachusetts forbidding the purchase.
A good number of national sellers refuse Massachusetts altogether rather than deal with this. We do not.
Magazines are a separate question
Massachusetts limits magazines to 10 rounds. This catches people out, because it has nothing to do with the ammunition rules above. Even where ammunition reaches you without any trouble, we cannot send a magazine over the limit.
